See this popup local area map showing Conway Summit south to June Lake (look for waypoint CONWAY).
View the waypoint file (above) for GPS Routes VIRGINIA LAKES, DUNDERBERG, and HWY 395 CONWAY TO JUNE LAKE.

Leave Hwy 395 halfway between Bridgeport and Lee Vining (13 miles from each) at Conway Summit on Virginia Lakes Road (waypoint CONWAY,). Follow the paved road past the winter parking lot (waypoint JORDAN, 0.4 miles from Hwy 395) which is marked as a turnoff to Jordan Basin in the summer.

Keep going on the only paved road until you pass the turnoff to Dunderberg Meadow Road (waypoint DUNVIR, 4.5 miles from Hwy 395). If you turn right here, you'll take the (very rough dirt but still 2WD) Dunderberg Meadow Road north to the Green Creek Road.

The Virginia Lakes Resort (waypoint VIRGRS) has a cafe of sorts, and the pavement ends at first corner after that.

The Virginia Lakes Trailhead (waypoint VIRGLK) features a boat launching area and an outhouse - the trailhead sign is hidden downslope toward the lake from the outhouse, and there are a bunch of fishing use trails that make the main trail vague near the cars. This area is highly developed. No trailhead camping.

Even if you want to go between the Green Creek and Virginia Lake trailheads, the Dunderberg Meadow dirt connector is a bad choice because it's faster and not much longer to go around on the paved roads - but see GPS Route DUNDERBERG (the blue line on the map) if you're curious.
